Last year's edition: Hair colour trends 2026
2027 has not started yet, but the autumn 2026 reports and the first long range forecasts already point somewhere: deeper browns, more mature reds and hair that shines. Here is what we know so far, what carries over from 2026 and which shade suits whom.
The short answer: the first forecasts for hair colour trends 2027 point to deeper browns, warm reds and a lot of shine, with colour that needs fewer salon visits. Espresso brunette, wine red and a soft amber blonde are the names that come up again and again. A full colour at B&B Elegance costs 40 €.
To be honest about it: in October 2026, real forecasts for 2027 are thin. Colourists and beauty magazines usually publish next year's trends in spring. What exists today are the reports for autumn and winter 2026, which tend to run into the first months of the following year, and a few longer range forecasts from the colour industry.
The dye maker Sensient, in its outlook for 2025 to 2027, mentions gentler, scalp friendly colour, growing interest in semi permanent shades and dark tones with rich, complex blends. The trend agency WGSN, together with Coloro, named "Luminous Blue", a strong blue, as its colour of the year 2027. That pick is for clothing and design. Nothing suggests blue hair is about to go mainstream.
Most of what we wrote in hair color trends 2026 still holds. Warm tones, soft transitions and colour that grows out without a hard root line continue into 2027. Icy platinum and chunky highlights keep fading out.
The main change is depth. In 2026 the words of the year were honey and caramel. The autumn 2026 reports show darker browns, more mature reds and more attention to how glossy the hair looks than to how many highlights it has. Put simply, less added light and more rich colour that looks healthy.
Espresso is the shade the autumn 2026 reports name most often, along with other coffee tones such as mocha and caramel macchiato. The look is simple: one deep, even colour with a lot of shine. It suits natural brown or dark hair, which most of our clients in Pristina have, and olive skin. On very fair skin it can look heavy around the face, and a brown one shade lighter is the softer choice there.
This is done with a full colour, no bleach involved. Be careful if you are blonde or have light highlights today. Going dark over lightened hair needs a plan, because the new colour can fade fast or turn slightly green. Besire, who has worked with hair for more than 20 years, checks this before any colour goes on.
Red stays strong going into 2027, but its character is changing. Bright copper is giving way to more mature tones: wine red, brown with a copper glow and a faded strawberry blonde. These shades suit warm skin and green or light brown eyes.
Red has one weakness that does not change from year to year. It fades faster than any other colour. Plan for more frequent refreshes, lukewarm water when you wash and a shampoo for coloured hair.
For blondes, the 2026 direction continues: less cool ash, more warmth. The new names in the reports are amber blonde, with honey and gold in it, and "teddy bear bronde", a brown and blonde mix as soft as the toy it is named after. A few colourists expect a bright, cooler blonde to return for winter, but that is a minority view.
These tones are usually reached with balayage from 140 € or highlights at 100 €, with a toner at the end.
Another line running from 2026 into 2027 is colour that does not tie you to the salon every four weeks. Shatir and ombre from 120 € keep the root close to your natural shade. Grey is blended with fine lights instead of being covered completely. For us it means one first question before any colour: how often do you want to come in?
A trend only works if it suits your face. Warm skin, with a yellow or golden undertone, carries warm espresso, copper red and amber blonde well. Cool skin, with a pink undertone, looks better with cool brown, wine red and beige blonde. The full step by step test is in our guide to hair color for your skin tone.
