Women's haircuts 2026: the cuts people are asking for

8 October 2026

The new edition is out: Women's haircuts 2027

Every year brings new names for cuts that are often familiar ideas. We read the 2026 trend reports and kept only the directions most of them agree on. Then we explain which cut suits which kind of hair.

The short answer: women's haircuts in 2026 lean toward soft shapes with movement. English and German trend reports keep naming the same cuts: the bob, soft layers, the soft shag, the pixie and bixie, and light curtain bangs. At B&B Elegance a haircut costs 15 €, wash included.

A trend is only the starting point. A good cut should still look right three weeks later, when the hair has grown and you are styling it yourself in the morning. That is why we choose the cut for your hair, not just for the photo.

Haircut trends 2026: where the reports agree

Magazines and stylists writing about 2026 use different names, but the direction is the same: fewer rigid shapes, more movement, and hair that looks healthy. These are the cuts that come up most often:

The reports also agree on one more point: healthy, shiny hair is treated as a trend in its own right. A regular cut that removes dry ends does more for your look than any new style name.

Cuts for short hair

For short hair, the bob and the soft pixie are the two main choices this year. Layering short hair needs a careful hand: a few layers on top add volume, while too many make the hair look thin. A precise cut also holds its shape on its own, which makes everyday styling quicker. For more ideas by length, see our guide to hairstyles by hair length.

Cuts for fine hair

Fine hair looks thicker when the ends stay full. That is why a blunt bob or a lob with very light layers often works better than heavy layering. Shoulder length usually holds volume better than very long hair. Our guide to fine hair and volume has more tips.

Cuts for thick hair

Here layers help. Internal layers remove weight without taking off length, and the hair becomes easier to blow-dry. The soft shag and long layers both suit thick hair, because they let it move instead of puffing out.

Cuts for curly hair

Curly hair shrinks as it dries, so the length you see when it is wet is not the length you keep. The cut should follow the curl pattern and avoid very short layers that make the crown puff up. A soft shag or long layers usually show curls at their best.

Choosing a cut for your face shape

Your face shape does not rule out any cut, but it does guide the length and where the volume sits. A round face usually benefits from length below the chin and bangs that fall to the side. A long face often looks more balanced with volume at the sides and some fringe. The full advice is in our guide to hairstyles for your face shape.

At the salon this conversation happens before the scissors come out. Besire, who has been cutting hair for more than 20 years, looks at your hair, how it grows and how much time you have in the morning, and tells you honestly whether the cut in your photo will look the same on you.

How often should you get a trim?

As a general guide, short cuts and bobs need a refresh every 6 to 8 weeks to keep their shape. Long hair usually manages with a trim every 8 to 12 weeks. Bangs grow fast and often need a touch-up sooner.

How much does a haircut cost?

At B&B Elegance a haircut costs 15 € and includes a short talk about the shape, a wash and the cut. If you want to leave with styled hair, a straight blow-dry starts from 10 € and a natural blow-dry from 15 €. All of it is on our haircut and blow-dry page.
