Last year's edition: Women's haircuts 2026
Forecasts for 2027 are only starting to appear, and there are not many of them yet. We read the early English and German reports, kept the ideas that come up more than once, and explain how they look on real hair rather than on a runway.
The short answer: women's haircuts in 2027 continue the soft direction of 2026, with three changes showing up in the first reports: the bob is getting shorter towards the micro bob, layers take on more 1970s volume, and bangs grow longer and fall lightly over the eyes. At B&B Elegance a haircut costs 15 €, wash included.
One honest note first. There are no full 2027 trend reports yet. What exists are the autumn and winter 2026/2027 collections and early predictions from stylists. So this post has two parts: what is known now, and what carries over from this year.
The German hairdressers' association, ZV Friseurhandwerk, publishes a trend collection twice a year. Its autumn and winter 2026/2027 collection is built around the night and includes a soft cut with long pieces falling over the forehead, big 1970s waves with volume, and a sleek look with the hair brushed back. English language magazines describe the same ideas in other words: cuts that grow out well, look fine when air dried, and frame the face.
From all of this, the cuts you are most likely to see in 2027 are:
These are early directions, not rules. Some of them will stay on the runway and never reach the streets of Pristina.
Most of the cuts we covered in women's haircuts 2026 are not going anywhere. What changes is mainly the length and where the volume sits.
| In 2026 | The direction for 2027 |
|---|---|
| Chin length bob or a shoulder length lob | The bob stays, with the shorter micro bob getting more attention |
| Soft layers you can barely see | More visible layers with lift on top |
| Curtain bangs parted in the middle | Longer bangs that fall lightly over the eyes |
| Soft pixie and bixie | Both stay, joined by bolder short cuts |
| Healthy hair as a trend | Stays, together with cuts that grow out without losing shape |
A micro bob looks clean and modern, but it needs hair that falls straight and a refresh roughly every six weeks. It suits straight hair of medium density. If your hair is fine, a slightly longer blunt bob holds volume better, as we explain in our guide to fine hair and volume. The shoulder length lob is still the most practical choice if you tie your hair up for work.
For ideas on styling a bob and other short cuts at home, for events and for weddings, read our post on short hair styles.
1970s style layers work best on thick hair and hair with a natural wave, because the layers take out weight and let the hair move. On very fine hair, too many layers make the ends look sparse, and a few pieces around the face are enough. This cut needs a little round brush blow-drying to look like the photo, unlike a blunt bob.
Shadow bangs are longer and thinner than classic bangs. They fall lightly over the brows and part on their own. They are an easy first step if you have never had bangs, because they grow out without much trouble. If you have a cowlick at the front, we check it in the salon before cutting.
For students and girls getting ready for prom, the most requested cuts are the ones that take no time in the morning: a lob with a few layers, long face framing layers and light bangs.
Your face shape guides the length and where the volume sits. A round face benefits from length below the chin, a long face from volume at the sides. The full advice is in our guide to hairstyles for your face shape.
Besire, who has been cutting hair for more than 20 years, also looks at two things a photo does not show: how your hair grows and how much time you have in the morning. If a 2027 cut will not hold on your hair, she tells you before she starts.
A haircut costs 15 € and includes a talk about the shape, a wash and the cut. If you want to leave with styled hair, a straight blow-dry starts from 10 € and a natural blow-dry from 15 €. Everything is on our haircut and blow-dry page.
