Hair
26 October 2026
The hairstyle trends for 2027 do not turn anything upside down. Volume grows a little, waves open up and sleek hair loosens. Here is what the first shows suggest, what carries over from 2026 and how to translate it to your own hair.
The short answer: hairstyle trends for 2027 continue what we saw in 2026, with a bit more movement. The direction from the first shows is soft waves with volume, sleek hair that is not stiff, half up styles and braids. At B&B Elegance an event hairstyle costs 25 €, and a natural blow-dry starts from 15 €.
One thing first. In October 2026 the full trend reports for 2027 are not out yet, and anyone handing you a final list is guessing. What exists now is the autumn and winter 2026/27 runway season, the trend collection of the German hairdressers' federation for the same season, and the first New York shows for spring and summer 2027. We read the coverage in English and in German, and it points the same way.
Paris showed big 80s volume, off-centre partings and worked braids. The German collection has one look with large 70s waves and another slicked back, with a few strands falling over the forehead. In New York, for spring 2027, there were loose low buns and a half up style with a soft loop at the crown. The advice from the stylists there was sleek hair that still moves when you turn your head.
Most of what clients asked for this year stays. Soft waves, a bouncy blow-dry, the sleek ponytail and bows in the hair are going nowhere. The change is in the detail: volume grows a little, and the very polished look where no strand moves is softening. A style you loved in 2026 will still look current in 2027.
New cut shapes have their own post, women's haircuts 2027, and so do the shades, in hair colour trends 2027. This one is only about styling, meaning how you wear the hair you already have.
Loose waves stay the most requested style, because they work on almost any length past the shoulders. For 2027 the waves get bigger and more open, with lift at the root, closer to a 70s blow-dry than to tight tong curls. In the salon this usually comes from a natural blow-dry with a round brush, which gives movement without straightening the hair completely.
How long the volume lasts depends on your hair. Fine hair drops sooner, thick hair holds into the evening. We can tell at first touch, so the setting products are chosen in the chair.
The sleek ponytail and the low bun at the nape continue from 2026, especially for dinners and work events. In 2027 they get softer. A side parting instead of a centre one, or two loose pieces at the front, takes the hardness out. This look needs a well blow-dried base first, because every stray kink shows on a smooth surface.
Half up is the answer when you want your hair down but out of your face all night. In 2027 it comes in loose forms: a soft loop at the crown, one large clip, or a thin braid that gathers the sides. It suits medium and long hair and holds well at weddings, where the dancing goes on for hours.
Braids came back on the cold season runways, from a single low braid to braids that gather the sides of the head. For younger clients and for prom they are among the most practical styles, since they last all day. Accessories stay too: bows, metal clips, thin ribbons. Our rule in the salon is one accessory per hairstyle.
A trend is a starting point, not an order. Length, density and face shape decide. Some general guidance:
More ideas are in our guide to hairstyles by hair length. In the salon, Besire, who has worked with hair for more than 20 years, tells you openly whether the style in your photo will hold on your hair before she starts.
