How long does balayage take? The real time, not the advertised one

The short answer: a full balayage usually takes 2.5 to 4 hours. Shorter hair with a light natural base can finish faster; long, dense or previously colored hair takes more. The exact time for your hair is told at the start of the visit, after Besire has seen your hair, not guessed over the phone.

Where the time goes

What adds time

• A dark base. Naturally black hair needs more lightening time than chestnut; sometimes a second session.
• Old color. Henna and box dyes react differently and are worked with extra care; mention them beforehand, not in the chair.
• Length and density. More hair means more sections to paint. There is no shortcut.
• Corrections. A balayage that failed elsewhere can be fixed, but fixing takes longer than starting fresh.

Why we do not rush it

A rushed balayage is a visible balayage: harsh lines where there should be a soft melt. Hand-painting has its name precisely because it happens hand by hand, section by section. If someone promises you a full balayage in an hour, they are describing something else and calling it balayage.
